Privacy Policy - Yankiri

1) Who we are

Yankiri is a mobile app for learning Japanese through videos and flashcards. This page explains how personal data is processed.

2) Data we collect

Depending on your usage, Yankiri may process the following data categories:

• Account identifiers: email and user ID.
• Profile data: name (for example full_name) and avatar (depending on OAuth provider and sign-in method).
• Learning data: progress, levels, answers, and session history.
• Contact data: messages sent through support/feedback forms.

3) Purposes of processing

• Create and manage your user account.
• Provide review and progress-tracking features.
• Handle support requests and improve service quality.
• Maintain technical security and prevent abuse.

4) Legal basis

Depending on the case, processing may rely on: performance of the requested service, legitimate interests (security and improvement), consent (when required), and applicable legal obligations.

5) Sharing with third parties (processors)

Data may be processed by technical providers required to operate the service:

• Supabase (authentication and database).
• Google Sign-In (OAuth authentication, if used).
• Sign in with Apple (iOS authentication, if used).
• Resend (web email delivery, including contact/creator request forms).
• OpenAI and YouTube for admin/creator pipeline processing (outside the core mobile user runtime experience).

Yankiri does not currently display ads and does not use the Android Advertising ID (AD_ID).

6) Data retention

Data is retained for as long as necessary for the purposes listed above, then deleted or anonymized where possible. Some data may be retained longer when required by law.

7) Security

Yankiri applies reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data (access controls, role separation, and hosting/platform security). No system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

8) Your rights

You can request:

• access to your data,
• correction of inaccurate data,
• deletion of your account and related data,
• information about how your data is processed.

9) Account and data deletion

At this stage, full account deletion is handled manually via email at contact@yankiri.app. Please include the account email address concerned.

Once validated, the account and associated data are deleted within a reasonable delay, unless legal retention obligations apply.

10) International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside your country of residence. When applicable, Yankiri relies on appropriate contractual safeguards provided by those providers.

11) Children and minors

Yankiri is not intended for young children. The current product target is 13+. If you believe a minor has provided data inappropriately, contact us for review and deletion where needed.

12) Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated over time. The current version is the one published on this page with its last updated date.
